Typical understeer problems occur when a car can't negotiate a sharp curve and mushes out when cornering. This explains why you see so many tire marks on sharp cloverleaves. Other common problems include tire squeal and rear wheel hop, which lead to a loss of traction. With the proper anti-sway bars installed in conjunction with the use of quality tires, wide rims, and high quality shocks, the front end of your vehicle will hold a curve just as well as the rear and vice versa, thus giving good balance. Additionally, your vehicle's body will not lean on curves throwing its weight outwards and tilting the front wheels.
The Speedbuilt Front Sway Bar for the 1999 and up Pontiac Grand Am GT replaces the factory rear sway bar with a 7/8 inch solid bar with polyurethane bushings, and your factory front bar with a 1 1/8 inch solid bar with polyurethane bushings. Don't let the retailers of tubular sway bars convince you that their bars are superior in an effort to justify their expensive price tag. They may claim a weight advantage but ask them what the weight difference really is. Ask them what the dangers are of a bushing mount snapping while turning hard into a corner and why they can't seem to design a bushing mount that won't break yet continue to sell the defective brackets with their sway bars for over two years. We've never had a sway bar bracket break because our custom fit bushings are meant to re-use your factory metal brackets which are extremely strong, and our Speedbuilt Sway Bars are track tested. You'll see why they are preferred by those who know suspensions.
