Update - added 5/4/09: Customers have been reporting fuel mileage increases of 2-3 miles per gallon on the highway using this intake, and anywhere between 8 and 18 horsepower depending on who is operating the dyno.

This is a true Cold Air Intake system designed and molded to fit the Pontiac G8. The goal was to design a system that incorporates all of the features necessary to maximize performance and air flow without regards to difficulty or tool expense. We started with an air box that is a complete, one-piece molded unit extending downward and outboard of the frame rail. This is crucial since the radiator fans fill the engine compartment with extremely hot air. The box was designed to maximize filter size while creating good alignment for the MAF sensor and the duct work to the throttle body. The open top combined with the hood seal allows the most air possible to all areas of the filter while maintaining a barrier against harmful engine and radiator heat. Also, the exposed filter looks very impressive when you pop your hood!

To get the cold air moving, we have created a transition tube that couples the air filter to the MAF sensor. It features a 6 mounting flange with a velocity stack design to maximize the air flow to the MAF sensor. The transition tube mounts solidly to the air box using five stainless steel screws that engage the molded-in 10-32 brass inserts. The transition mounts to the MAF sensor with a high gloss silicone hose. This unique design allows for a huge S & B high flow air filter with a 6 mounting flange and 6 filter length!

On the other side of the MAF sensor, a silicone hump hose absorbs the engine movement. Coupled to the opposite end of the hump hose, we have custom molded an inlet duct with a large, gentle radius that keeps the air moving smoothly. Because we already have a hump hose in the system for motor rock, we can butt our inlet tube directly to the throttle body. The inside of our tube is sized to allow the most air through while being the correct diameter to create a smooth transition for the air entering the throttle body. It is important for the tube to butt tightly to the throttle body to achieve the best flow.

Part of our quest for having the best air intake available for this car includes the option of transforming this intake into a true ram air system. For those of you that just want more we will be offering a separate kit to do this. Like our other components, this will be a custom molded piece that will fit your car properly and perform as it should.
