The basic black extenders add 1.3 inches to existing
accelerator and brake pedals to accommodate drivers who
are shorter in stature, allowing them to sit a safer, more comfortable distance from the steering wheel and
airbag.
Government transportation safety experts state that drivers should position themselves at least 10 inches from the air bag cover (measured from the center of the steering wheel to breastbone). Pedal extenders are designed to improve driver comfort and safety for many drivers who are unable to reach the accelerator and brake pedals from farther than 10 inches from the air bag cover.
