K&N Generation II Filter Injection Performance Kits (FIPKs) are built for many different vehicles and represent a dramatic improvement over a K&N Drop-in replacement filter alone; they use only non-metallic rotationally molded tubes that can keep air temperature down and decrease intake sound over a metal tube. K&N Air Intake Kits virtually eliminate air path restriction by replacing the air filter and the entire air path
to the engine. Also known as a CAI or cold air intake the FIPK's aerodynamically engineered tube drives a massive amount of air into an engine, which translates into HORSEPOWER.
K&N starts with the largest conical shaped high-flow air filter they can fit into the engine compartment while using factory holes and mounting points. This extra filter size provides
even more airflow at lower restriction than a standard K&N Drop-in replacement filter that is limited to the size of the factory air box. The oversized air filter also captures and holds more dirt increasing the service life before a cleaning is required (up to 100,000 miles). When possible, the filter is isolated from high engine temperature by a heat shield designed to lower the temperature of the air entering the engine, which increases horsepower. Next they
attach the filter to a rotationally molded tube made from interlaced High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). This process allows us to precisely shape the tube to reduce turbulence and accelerate airflow into the engine. This is why some
of our tubes have unique shapes that are specifically engineered for each application. Finally the tube is connected to the engine with adapters made from high strength materials such as silicone and reinforced nylon and ensures long life. Put all this together and you have the best high-flow intake system available today.

I was very excited when I purchased this. I'm pleased with the performance gain but I'm a little disappointed in the way this thing was designed. It doesn't fit on the fender apron all the way and it leaves a huge gap for warm engine compartment air to get sucked in. Not a HUGE deal but I thought the intent of a "cold air" intake was just that. The filter that comes with it is so big that looks like it's crammed into the corner, and that's because it is. All in all it could have been designed a little better but I guess I'll fab something up for it to make it look less like an after thought. Performance is great, design isn't the best.

Put this on my 2001 GTP. Sounds great with the supercharger. Looks great when you pop the hood. And you can immediately tell the gain in Hp when you take it for the test drive after you put it on. Also noticed an improvement on gas mileage. If you are looking for an intake for your car, this is it.

I just installed this yesterday on my 98 GTP. It is definitely necessary to move the coolant tank like suggested! The instructions are for 99 model year and later, so some things were a bit different which created a few problems along the way... took over 3 hours to install the coolant tank and the intake. But it's all worth it for the awesome sound and HP you get out of this thing! And with the improvement in gas mileage, it will pay for itself!

I just installed the kit on my 2000 gtp. It sounds great, looks cool under the hood, and was easy to install. I combined the kit with the Dynomax exhaust, and 3.5 sc pully which turns the gtp into a rocket.

i got my intake in the mail, only surprised at how freakin big this air filter was. installation was very simple and you notice the difference the second you turn on the car. I took it to the track on 80 degree weather and gained 1/2 a sec with this intake on. great product!
