SLP Exhaust Headers - W-body -
|
 |
|
SLP Performance Parts has long been recognized as a leader in the development of
headers and exhaust systems for late-model GM V8s. Now, in response to the ever-increasing
popularity of the front-drive W-Body vehicle family, SLP engineers have created
a high-performance header package for the 3.8-liter 3800 Series II V6.
Like SLP's hot-selling LS1 Tuned-Length Long Tubes, SLP's new W-Body headers
offer unsurpassed ease of installation and a horsepower increase you can really
feel.
SLP high-flow catalytic converter and installation kit are optional.
NOTE: For off-road use only.
SLP's Headers
- Are constructed from mandrel-bent 409 stainless steel
and feature an aluminum-ceramic performance coating, inside and out. The "other"
brand uses nickel-plated mild steel.
- Require no welding or cutting for installation!
- Feature 1 5/8", one-piece primaries; a 3" collector; and a built-in, 3"
flex joint.
- Use strategically placed oxygen-sensor fittings that eliminate the possibility
of sensor-to-body contact under heavy throttle.
- Are available with an SLP High-Flow Catalytic Converter or off-road Race
Pipe.
- Are equipped with genuine OEM flanges.
- Have provisions for the factory air pump, EGR, and oxygen sensors.
- Are compatible with both supercharged and naturally aspirated engines.
- Produce up to 25 additional horsepower
- Are covered by SLPs Performance Guarantee and Lifetime Limited Warranty.
- For off road use only, not legal for use on pollution controlled cars

    Excellent Power Increase, 5.7.2007

Noticed a substantial increase in low-end power with these headers. Even with the car on the ground you nearly have to beat the rear header down into place, so they really cut the tolerances to "just barely fits" standards. Still was worth the effort, my only real complaint is the tin-like sounding nature of the downpipe area, hopefully my 3" cat-back will overshadow that sound.

SLP headers and hi-flow cat combo, 12.29.2006

Premium products. Fits like a glove and great finish that lasts. Really woke up my engine with gobs of low end torque. I have found that so many owners are skimping out on exhaust pieces and are not getting the results they are hoping for. These pieces WILL do it.

    Quality header, 11.2.2006

quality header and an easy installation with the right tools, the instructions could have been a little more "model specific" I had a tuff time getting the right header/flexpipe combo down behind the sway bar and past the right valve cover similtaniously. (This is why the car has to be on the ground, so the sway bar will be compressed and rotated out of the way. The instructions don't tell you this.) OEM sxhaust gaskets suck, made of tin and I just don't like them (previous experience) I would prefer a quality header gasket. The clamps that come with this kit are outstanding, very heavy duty and powder coated the same as the header. If you are useing the stock exhaust from the cat back, be aware that the right stud on the existing flange is too long and must be trimmed about a 1/4" or it will damage the O2 sensor behind the cat.(also not mentioned in the instuctions) I am a little concerned about the lack of heat shields now, the left pipes are very close to the radiator fan motor and the a/c lines, the right side is very close to a ps pump line. Overall the header and hardware is a 10, the instructions a 5. |
