As featured on the PFYC Grand Prix Inferno Show car that debuted at the 2003 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, we're proud to offer the Grand Prix Inferno Ram Air Hood. This all new design was engineered from the ground up especially for the 2004 and newer Grand Prix. Featuring twin, low profile ram air inlets, the Grand Prix Inferno Ram Air Hood is not only attractive but functional. The ram air inlets duct air over to the airbox. Install a K&N Intake kit (found in the Under the Hood section) to make the inlets functional. The louvered heat extractors allow underhood heat to escape, helping to keep the engine bay cooler. With a finished underside, you'll be just as proud to show your car with the hood up as you will with it down. Our Grand Prix Inferno Ram Air Hood is built using the finest materials and craftsmanship available and boasts a weight savings of almost 25% (over 10 lbs) compared to the stock hood. Includes inlet grills. Uses factory hood struts, hinges and latches. Comes unpainted, ready to prep and paint.

Q: Can you recommend a body shop in my area to have the hood prepped and painted?

A: While we don't have a database of body shops around the country, we can give you some hints on finding the right place to do the work. Look for a shop that has experience with fiberglass and has worked with aftermarket hoods. Rarely will you find that your local dealership has had any experience with fiberglass, they usually work with factory parts made of steel. Some of our customers have had success contacting their local Chevrolet dealer's body shop and asking where they send Corvettes that come in damaged as Corvettes are fiberglass. Your local performance shop may also have recommendations. Ask for recommendations of other customers who have had similar work done.

Q: What all is involved with "prep" and painting as listed in the description above?

A: Your body shop will want to test fit the hood immediately upon receiving it. They will make any adjustments necessary to make it fit just right. They will also want to block sand it prior to painting. This is where a good body shop is important. If they don't have experience with fiberglass, they can cost you money. There should be a couple of hours of labor involved with test fitting and prepping (painting will be extra). If they want to charge you for much more than that or they are telling you the hood will need repair before they can paint it, tell them to hold off and email us for further instructions. Please note that later models such as late 2007 and 2008 models have gone with a single hood strut which is much stronger than the struts used when there were two. For those vehicles we recommend purchasing a 2004 model hood strut and replacing the factory strut with it to prevent the hood from being pushed too high where the strut meets the hood.

This hood gives the appearance of what Pontiac should have done. I love the functionality that it offers! I did have a fitment issue with the hood support though. It hooked up ok but got hung up with the hood closed. I took the hood support off and hood now closes as it should. [Some modifications needed.] Overall....... very happy with it!!
Very nice quality

Hood arrived in perfect shape. It WILL warp as mentioned with the single stock strut support. Replace it with a 4152 strong arm unit. You will have to swap the ball ends as they are different sizes, but they unthread with the help of 2 blocks of wood and a vice to clamp the unit in. The shoulder is tall on one end so a quick 3 seconds on the grinder makes it a perfect fit. Leave car in the sun for a few hours and the warp is gone forever. The attention you get with this hood is amazing. Plan on slotting your fender bolts and shimming the headlamp area to make a perfect fit. The extra 2 hours I took was worth it. Better than stock look for fit. You will not find a better non OEM hood with better quality. Get one while you can - these cars are dwindling.
Amazing quality

The Inferno hood is a really great upgrade for your Grand Prix. I have a 2000 GTP that has had an SD ram air hood for almost 10 years and I had been thinking about getting the Inferno hood for my GXP for about a year. I'm really glad I finally did it. The hood came shipped very securely, so there wasn't any broken corners, cracks, etc. The freight quote was correct, I think my rate was on the lower end of the quote. The vents are a premium aluminum finish. It fits the car very well and I assume it was easy to paint, because the paint shop said fiberglass can be difficult to paint, but after I got the hood back they didn't mention that this was difficult. I wrote up an article with pictures on my blog, check it out here: http://blog.tjnevis.com/pontiac-grand-prix-gxp-inferno-ram-air-hood-from-pfyc/

Installing the Inferno Ram Air hood has changed the entire look of my GXP, making it look very aggressive. I get comments from people wondering if it some special car Pontiac made. I love the hood, fits nicely and was exactly as described.

I always felt that my Grand Prix GXP should have come from the factory with a ram air type to separate it from the other models. Thankfully the Inferno Hood from PFYC.com is available, and totally fits the bill. It is a beautiful looking hood that required very little prep work. My car now has the look it should have had from the get-go. Thanks PFYC.
