Ordered the Manual version, then saw the Automatic one,and ordered it. One week after I installed the Automatic one on my Saleen SC Extreme, my Wife and Myself got pulled over, New Jersey is a two Plate State. He wanted to give me a ticket, asked him if I produced a Plate would he let me go. I hit the Remote, out pops the Plate, any away goes the Cop, and No Ticket. He was floored. And it doesn't mess up the Front Appearance of My"Stone Pony". Two Thumbs Up. And Thanks to the Police for the Break. Outstanding!!

I recently bought a 2004 Cadillac XLR. The previous owners wisely did not mount the front license plate frame. It was in its original box in the trunk. After driving the car without a front plate for 3 months I figured it was only a matter of time before I got pulled over. It happened to a work colleague who was driving his Corvette. His remote control Show 'n Go saved him a ticket. So I bought the Universal Fit model. It was an easy mount on the XLR using an existing screw and adding two that were supplied with the kit. Rather than drilling holes for the screw grommets, I simply used the supplied self-tapping screws into the underside of the plastic bumper. No drilling required. Hardest part of the job was routing the wiring up through the bumper, but once into the engine compartment the rest was easy. The antenna did not have double-sided tape as stated in the instructions. A bit of 3M mounting tape solved that problem. The wiring included in the kit is very generous so there should be no problem hooking up to the battery where ever it may be in the engine compartment. I recommend adding a cover over the license plate to help preserve it when the plate is stowed under the car. Unfortunately the license plate screws supplied in the kit are a bit short for the covers available to me. I ended up having to use my Dremel tool to grind the flanges off of the screw holes on the license plate cover in order to securely fasten the cover and the plate. But it turned out great. It takes about 3 seconds for the plate to stow or to be displayed. It is too bad that the remote control doesn't have a means to tell you when the operation is complete. I also found that while you can stow the plate while the car is moving, it is more difficult for the plate to be deployed while underway. The spring that helps snap the plate vertical is not strong enough to overcome wind resistance at speed. Be sure to use the rubber pads to cushion the plate frame where it touches the bumper. While the plate frame is plastic I am sure that without the rubber pads over time you will begin to see wear marks on the bumper. Also be careful going over bumps or pulling into parking spaces. I think it could be easy to scrape your plate against the ground or a parking curb if you install the frame on a low slung car like the XLR or Corvette. All in all, a great performing product. My friends have been amazed by the "gimmick" license plate holder. I just like the clean front end it gives my X.

The materials and construction of this frame are as advertised, built to last of durable and corrosion resistant materials. The installation was not complicated. Once installed, it worked perfectly, and avoided any defacing of the Camaro front bumper face. Now I can be 'legal' in NJ!
